After weeks of intense investigations into the mysterious abduction of two Kitengela brothers, Jamil and Aslam Longton, fresh revelations have surfaced regarding their safe release. The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President, Faith Odhiambo, confirmed that the two brothers, who disappeared on August 19, were found at the Gachie border between Kiambu and Nairobi.
Taking to her social media platforms, Odhiambo revealed that the Longton brothers had been dumped by their captors and are now in safe hands. "Every prayer and intervention made a difference. We thank God that they are safe," she stated, expressing relief that efforts were being made to reunite the brothers with their family.
The pair were abducted alongside prominent activist Bob Njagi outside their home in Kitengela, Kajiado County, by masked men in a Subaru vehicle. Njagi, known for his solidarity with businessman Jimi Wanjigi, was forcibly taken from a Kitengela-bound matatu, sparking concerns over politically motivated abductions.
Despite public speculation and pressure from human rights groups, the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, refuted claims of police involvement in the incident. “We don’t have the ‘Kitengela 3’ in our custody,” Kanja clarified in his first public statement on the case, urging anyone with information to come forward.
DCI boss Amin Mohamed echoed Kanja’s sentiments, reiterating that the investigation remains active. However, many questions remain unanswered, including the identity of the captors and the motives behind the abductions.
Human rights organizations have condemned the abduction, with several activists calling for greater transparency and accountability in such high-profile cases. The discovery of the Longton brothers has brought some relief, but the circumstances surrounding their ordeal continue to raise concerns about personal security and political intimidation in the country.
