Madrid survive red card scare as Mbappé penalises Marseille
Real Madrid began their group stage in dramatic fashion, edging past Olympique de Marseille 2–1 thanks to a brace of penalties by Kylian Mbappé, one early on and another deep into the second half. The win was all the more remarkable given that Madrid were reduced to 10 men following a late red card for captain Dani Carvajal.
Qarabag steal it late in Lisbon
Benfica raced into a 2–0 lead inside the first 16 minutes, courtesy of goals from Enzo Barrenechea and Vangelis Pavlidis. But Qarabag mounted a stirring comeback, with Leandro Andrade getting them back into it, Camilo Duran leveling, and Oleksiy Kashchuk completing the turnaround in the 86th minute. The 3–2 win marks a historic Champions League victory for the Azerbaijani side.

Juventus and Dortmund share eight-goal thrillerIn Turin, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund played out an epic 4–4 draw, with all eight goals coming after halftime. Dušan Vlahović turned into the hero, netting twice—including a stoppage-time equalizer and setting up Lloyd Kelly’s dramatic late header to salvage a point.

Arsenal and Union Saint-Gilloise shine on opening night
Arsenal opened their campaign with a solid 2–0 win away at Athletic Bilbao, with substitutes Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard each scoring after coming off the bench.
Meanwhile, Union Saint-Gilloise made a striking Champions League debut, defeating PSV Eindhoven 3–1 highlighted by a composed penalty from Promise David and a powerful solo run by Anouar Ait El Hadj.
