Activist Bob Njagi Recounts Harrowing 32-Day Abduction, Vows to Sue Government

Bob Njagi, leader of the Free Kenya Movement, has spoken out about his 32-day abduction, attributing his ordeal to his role in anti-government protests. In an emotional press conference held in Kitengela, Njagi detailed how he was seized by four masked men on August 19 in Mlolongo, accusing him of carrying a gun. He was dragged into a car, tortured, and confined in a dark, isolated room for over a month.

Njagi described grim conditions, including limited food, solitary confinement, and restricted access to basic hygiene. Despite this, he has forgiven his captors but is determined to hold the government accountable for the rising number of abductions linked to protests.

Njagi plans to sue the state for human rights violations, seeking compensation for families of victims of forced disappearances. His abduction coincided with other disappearances, including that of brothers Jamil and Aslam Longton, further fueling concerns about government crackdowns on dissent.
