Attorney General's Son Arrested in Nairobi, MP Claims, Sparking Concerns

Attorney General Justin Muturi's son has reportedly been arrested by police in Nairobi, according to Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje. In a video circulating online, Mwenje claimed that Leslie Muturi, whom he described as a friend, was pulled over and taken from his car by police officers in Nairobi's Kilimani area.

Mwenje asserted that he and their friends were driving separately when Leslie's vehicle was stopped and he was detained by officers in a Land Cruiser. In the video, Mwenje pointed out Leslie's blue SUV parked on the roadside, its doors and trunk open as evidence of the incident.

Further complicating the situation, Mwenje alleged that attempts to locate Leslie through official channels were fruitless, with police denying any knowledge of his whereabouts. He vowed to pursue all avenues to secure Leslie's release, emphasizing the determination of their efforts.

This arrest follows closely on the heels of social media influencer Billy Simani's recent release from police custody, which sparked widespread public outcry and an online campaign for his freedom. Simani's detention, reportedly linked to allegations of sending threatening messages to a public servant, coincided with youth-led demonstrations against the Finance Bill 2024 earlier in the week.

As both incidents unfold, they underscore growing concerns over civil liberties and police actions in Nairobi, prompting heightened scrutiny and demands for transparency from authorities.
