In a dramatic session on Friday, the Bomet County Assembly voted to impeach three County Executive Committee (CEC) members, citing charges of gross violation of the Constitution, abuse of office, and incompetence. The impeached officials include Andrew Sigei, the CEC for Finance, ICT, and Economic Planning; Eric Kipkoech Ngetich, the CEC for Roads, Transport, and Public Works; and Dr. Joseph Kipngetich Kirui, the CEC for Administration, Public Service, and Special Programmes.

The impeachment process was initiated after an Adhoc committee was formed to investigate the allegations leveled against the three officials. The committee's findings painted a grim picture of their conduct in office, leading to a decisive vote by the assembly members.
Andrew Sigei faced the full brunt of the assembly's wrath, with 29 out of 38 members voting in favor of his removal. He was found guilty of gross violation of the Constitution and incompetence. The motion to impeach him was tabled by Kimulot MCA, Eric Kirui, who emphasized the need for accountability in leadership.
Roads CEC Eric Kipkoech Ngetich also saw his tenure come to an abrupt end, as 29 members voted for his ouster. He was found culpable of gross constitutional violations and abuse of office. His impeachment motion was tabled by MCA Josphat Kipkirui, who accused Ngetich of betraying the trust placed in him by the people of Bomet.
Dr. Joseph Kipngetich Kirui did not fare any better, with the same number of assembly members voting for his removal. He was charged with constitutional violations, abuse of office, and incompetence. Nominated MCA Vincent Mutai, who tabled the motion, described Kirui's actions as "a breach of the public trust."
The three CEC members were notably absent from the impeachment hearings, choosing instead to be represented by their lawyer, Desmond Leteipa. Despite their absence, the assembly's decision was swift and resolute, reflecting a commitment to upholding the integrity of public office.
