A deadly ambush by suspected Shifta militants on a Nairobi-bound bus has left one person dead and several others critically injured. The attack occurred Monday evening at Bori Junction along the Moyale-Solo stretch, a region notorious for such assaults.
The 60-seater bus came under fire as the assailants sprayed it with bullets, leaving passengers with life-threatening injuries. Four critically wounded individuals were rushed to Sololo Mission Hospital, where one succumbed to their injuries.
This tragic event mirrors a similar attack last year on the Wajir-Madera highway by Al-Shabaab militants, underscoring the ongoing security challenges in the region.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, but no official statement has been released at this time. This latest attack raises urgent questions about safety on these remote highways, as residents call for increased security measures.
