An explosion at a popular beach restaurant in Mogadishu late Friday killed at least 37 civilians and injured 212, the deadliest attack since 2022. The Somali government blamed militant group al Shabaab. Health Minister Ali Haji confirmed the toll, noting 11 critically injured. One attacker blew himself up, three were killed by security forces, and one was captured. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre pledged to strengthen city security, urging civilians to report terrorists. This follows the October 2022 twin car bombs that killed 100 and injured 300. The government remains determined to combat al Shabaab's ongoing threat.
