At least 20 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes targeting Nuseirat in central Gaza, part of a broader escalation that has claimed the lives of at least 34 people across the Gaza Strip today, according to medical sources on the ground.
In the occupied West Bank, the city of Jenin remains under siege as Israeli forces continue their most intense military operation in decades. The siege has left Palestinian residents without essential services, including food, water, electricity, and internet access, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) reports that 20 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since the Israeli incursion began on Wednesday. Among the victims are children and a person with disabilities, raising alarms over the conduct of military operations in civilian areas.
Amid the violence, a crucial polio vaccination campaign is set to begin in Gaza on Sunday. However, aid groups warn that ongoing Israeli attacks could severely hamper their efforts to deliver life-saving food and healthcare to the region's most vulnerable populations.
The death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 40,600, with nearly 94,000 wounded, as Israel’s war on the region intensifies. The conflict, which escalated following Hamas-led attacks on October 7 that killed an estimated 1,139 people in Israel, shows no signs of abating, raising urgent questions about the future of peace and stability in the region.
