Dorcas Oduor Nominated as Kenya's First Female Attorney General.


In a historic move, President William Ruto has nominated Dorcas Oduor for the position of Attorney General (AG). Oduor, currently the Secretary of Public Prosecutions at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), is set to make history as the first female Attorney General since Kenya's independence, pending approval by the National Assembly.


Oduor's impressive qualifications and extensive legal background make her a standout choice for the role. She is a High Court advocate with a Master’s degree in International Conflict Management and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi. Additionally, she holds a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.



President Ruto announced the nomination on Tuesday, July 30, highlighting Oduor's distinguished career and her unwavering commitment to the rule of law.


"Senior Counsel Oduor has demonstrated unimpeachable integrity, impressive professional competence, and steadfast commitment to the rule of law. If approved by the National Assembly, Dorcas Agik Oduor will become our nation's first female Attorney General," he stated.

As the Secretary of Public Prosecutions at the ODPP, Oduor has played a crucial role in shaping Kenya's legal landscape.
