The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a major reduction in fuel prices effective from October 15, 2024. In its latest review, the price of Super Petrol has dropped by Ksh8.18, bringing it down from Ksh188.84 to Ksh180.66 per litre. Diesel prices have decreased by Ksh3.54 to Ksh168.06, while kerosene now costs Ksh151.39, down by Ksh6.93.
EPRA attributed the price reductions to a decrease in the landed costs of petroleum imports. Super Petrol’s landed cost fell by 8.59%, and Diesel by 5.52%. Prices will vary slightly across regions, with Mombasa residents paying Ksh177.42 for petrol, while Kisumu consumers will pay Ksh180.68.
This comes after months of steady prices, with expectations of a decrease due to the strengthening Kenyan shilling and reduced global oil demand.
