Rigathi Gachagua has been removed from his position as UDA Deputy Party Leader, with newly sworn-in Deputy President Kithure Kindiki taking over the role. The announcement, made by the UDA on Monday, marks a turning point in the party's leadership as Kindiki steps into a key role within the party structure.
According to the party’s statement, Gachagua was removed in line with constitutional provisions under articles 75 (3) and 45 (7), which prevent him from continuing as Deputy Party Leader. Despite the change, Gachagua retains the option to stay with UDA as an ordinary member.

This move follows a statement by UDA Chair Cecily Mbarire on November 1, during Kindiki’s swearing-in, where she hinted at significant changes in the party’s top leadership. The restructuring is seen as an effort to unify and strengthen UDA as it heads into the next electoral cycle with over 7 million members, including 3.5 million registered voters.
