Governor Wavinya Ndeti Rejects Smuggling Ksh679M Allegations, Announces Legal Action Against Rumours

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has vehemently denied recent claims that she was detained in the United Kingdom for attempting to smuggle 679million of shillings into the country. In a statement released on Monday, Ndeti labeled the allegations as fabricated and politically motivated.

“These false claims are intended to tarnish my reputation and are clearly the work of political adversaries,” Ndeti asserted. She emphasized the stringent nature of UK customs and financial controls and assured the public that she and her family are safe.

Ndeti warned that she would pursue legal action against those spreading the misinformation, underscoring the personal risks posed by such defamatory attacks. “Malicious misinformation has jeopardized the safety of my family, and any harm that comes to them will be the responsibility of those behind these lies,” she said.

Despite the controversy, Ndeti remains focused on her governance agenda. Her administration has successfully managed nearly 1,000 projects since August 2022 and achieved a record Ksh. 1.7 billion in local revenue for FY 2023/2024.

The governor urged critics to provide concrete evidence if they intend to challenge her, reaffirming her commitment to the development of Machakos County.
