Ballistic Booms and air raid sirens sounded across Israel early Sunday after Iran launched hundreds of drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles in an unprecedented revenge mission. A military spokesman said the launches numbered more than 300 but 99% of them were intercepted by Israel defence mechanics.
Senior Israeli Defence Officials earlier stated, “Unprecedented Iranian Attack” against Israel is believed to have consisted of 185 One-Way “Suicide” Drones, 110 Medium-Range Ballistic Missiles, and 36 Land-Attack Cruise Missiles with a Majority being launched from Iran, though a few were launched by the Houthi Terrorist Group in Yemen and Iranian-Backed Proxies in Iraq.
U.S. President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had a phone later on with reports that Biden said that Israel should consider tonight’s Iranian Attack as Largely Unsuccessful and a “Win” due to nothing of Value appearing to have been Lost and it being a Clear Demonstration of Israel’s Superior Military Capability. Also during the Call, President Biden is reported to have said that the United States would not Participate in any Offensive Action against Iran.
On the other hand, Iran warned if Israel retaliates, it will respond with more force , which Tehran said were themselves a reply to an Israeli attack earlier this month on its embassy complex in Syria's capital Damascus.
The Iranian attack, less than two weeks after a suspected Israeli strike in Syria that killed two Iranian generals in an Iranian consular building, marked the first time Iran has launched a direct military assault on Israel, despite decades of enmity dating back to the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The Airspace over Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon has now Reopened to commercial air traffic following the closure before the Iranian attack.
There is huge concern by the senior US officials over plans by Israel to retaliate without thinking of the Potential Regional and Global Consequences causing a Major Conflict; with President Biden reported to have already Expressed Concern to his Advisors on Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who he believes is trying to “Drag” the United States into another Large-Scale War in the Middle East.
Summary
The number of people brought to Soroka Medical Center in South Israel overnight was 12 according to a hospital spokeswoman Gutter Inbar.
Targeted area was Golan Heights, strategic area bordering Syria that Israel annexed nearly 60years ago.
In the hours after the attacks, as Iranians gathered in Tehran to celebrate them, more air-raid sirens sounded across vast swaths of southern Israel, the West Bank and Golan Heights. The Israeli government also sent out warnings about possible missiles arriving in the Negev Desert, where there are several military bases. And the airspaces of Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon were closed.
President Biden cut short a weekend at his vacation home in Delaware to huddle with his national security team. He also spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel.
