An Israeli airstrike hit a tent inside the Al-Aqsa Hospital compound in central Gaza, killing at least five people and wounding 18, according to Gaza health officials. This incident brings the total number of Palestinians killed on Sunday to 19, following another round of unsuccessful peace talks.
The airstrike, which started a fire in the hospital compound located in the densely populated Deir Al-Balah area, targeted a militant engaged in "terror activities," according to the Israeli military. They reported secondary explosions, suggesting the presence of weapons in the area.
In the past 24 hours, the Israeli military has struck 50 military targets across Gaza, including militant cells. The hospital compound has been serving as a refuge for thousands displaced by ongoing fighting in other parts of the enclave.
