John Stones’ 98th Minute Equalizer Secures 2-2 Draw for Manchester City Against 10-Man Arsenal

Manchester City extended their remarkable unbeaten home Premier League run to 33 matches after a last-gasp 98th minute equalizer from John Stones secured a 2-2 draw against 10-man Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

The high-stakes fixture between two title contenders lived up to expectations, with Erling Haaland opening the scoring in the 10th minute. Savinho's neat control and pass set Haaland up for his 100th goal for the club, slotting it past Arsenal's David Raya with precision. City nearly doubled their lead moments later, but İlkay Gündoğan’s free-kick struck the post.

City’s momentum, however, was disrupted by an injury to key midfielder Rodri. Following his substitution, Arsenal quickly capitalized, with Gabriel Martinelli setting up Riccardo Calafiori, who marked his first start for the club with a sublime left-footed curler to equalize. Arsenal then took the lead before halftime when Gabriel Magalhães headed in a Bukayo Saka corner.

Arsenal’s fortunes took a hit just before the break, as Leandro Trossard received a second yellow card for delaying the game, reducing the visitors to 10 men. City piled on the pressure in the second half, with Raya pulling off a series of crucial saves, notably denying Haaland and Joško Gvardiol from close range.

Despite Arsenal’s resilient defense, they couldn’t hold on as Stones tapped in a rebound from a Mateo Kovačić shot in the dying moments of the game. While City maintained their position at the top of the table, Arsenal were left ruing their missed opportunity to secure a rare victory at the Etihad.

With 33 matches remaining, Arsenal will aim to bounce back and challenge City’s dominance in the title race.
