Kalonzo Musyoka Declares Leadership of Azimio la Umoja, Prepares for 2027 Presidential Bid

Wiper party leader and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya principal Kalonzo Musyoka has announced his control over the coalition and his readiness to be its flagbearer in the 2027 General Election. In a firm declaration, Musyoka emphasized that he will not join President William Ruto’s government, despite key members of Raila Odinga’s ODM party accepting Cabinet nominations. He reassured supporters that Azimio remains strong and united.

“Ruto knows that I am his main opponent in 2027. Sometime back while addressing a meeting in Homa Bay, he sarcastically taunted me. It will not be a laughing matter when we face off in 2027,” Musyoka remarked. He revealed plans to form alliances with like-minded Kenyans to challenge the Kenya Kwanza government in the next election.

Musyoka called on Kenyans from all regions who desire genuine change to join his cause. “We are inviting Kenyans from all corners of the country who want to change Kenya in real time,” he stated. He expressed his commitment to standing with Kenyans against the current administration, vowing to support the Gen Z generation in their fight against corruption, tribalism, and nepotism.

The Wiper leader also dismissed rumors of being considered for the Attorney-General position, stating, “The talk about being appointed Attorney-General is nonsense. I have been the Vice-President of the republic and minister in many portfolios. Do you expect me to serve Ruto as Attorney-General? I think he is expecting too much.”

Musyoka’s assertive stance signals his dedication to leading the Azimio coalition and positioning himself as a formidable contender in the 2027 presidential race. His statements underscore a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the opposition and rallying support for a unified challenge against the current government.
