Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi Cleared of Forgery Charges: Nairobi Court Decision Revealed

Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi has been acquitted of forgery charges by a Nairobi court. The ruling, delivered by Anti-corruption Chief Magistrate Felix Kombo, pointed to the prosecution's failure to present the alleged forged academic certificates.

Sudi was accused of forging his academic credentials and submitting a false declaration form to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ahead of the 2013 general election. However, Magistrate Kombo criticized the investigative process, particularly the acquisition of evidence, casting doubts on its validity.

Among the allegations, Sudi was accused of fabricating a diploma certificate in Business Management from the Kenya Institute of Management and providing false information to an IEBC officer. These actions were purportedly aimed at deceiving the commission during the electoral clearance process.

The charges, outlined under Section 46(1)(d) in conjunction with Section 46(2) of the Leadership and Integrity Act, also included providing false information to an officer of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and making a false declaration under oath to the IEBC.

With Sudi's acquittal, questions arise about the fairness of the legal proceedings and the implications for his political career. The ruling marks a significant moment in the ongoing legal saga surrounding the MP, shedding light on the complexities of the judicial system and the challenges of proving allegations of forgery.
