In a bold move, Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has publicly criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of engaging in regional politics at the expense of national unity. Speaking at the burial of the father of former IEBC commissioner Irene Masit, Sudi condemned Gachagua's approach, urging him to transcend local interests and focus on issues that affect all Kenyans.
Sudi, a prominent figure within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), expressed concern over what he described as a backward political style that emphasizes tribal affiliations. "When leaders get to a certain level, they should speak for Kenyans, not just their people," Sudi remarked, challenging Gachagua to adopt a more inclusive stance. He called for leaders to present their visions in a way that fosters unity, rather than deepening divisions.
In a surprising move, Sudi also praised opposition leader Raila Odinga, acknowledging his contributions to Kenya’s progress, including the promulgation of the new constitution. His comments come at a time when President William Ruto has reportedly ordered UDA members to abandon a planned impeachment against Gachagua, further highlighting the internal rifts within the ruling party.
Sudi's remarks are likely to stir debate within Kenya's political circles, as they signal a growing discontent with the Deputy President's leadership style and a call for a more unified approach to governance.
