Kenya's Directorate of Immigration Services Abolishes Appointment Requirement for Passport Collection

In a major stride towards improving public service delivery, the Kenyan Directorate of Immigration Services announced on Sunday, July 28, that citizens will no longer need to book appointments to collect their passports. This move is part of the government's efforts to streamline and simplify the passport issuance process, addressing longstanding complaints from the public.
In a statement, the Directorate emphasized that the change was in response to multiple requests from Kenyans, with a commitment to continuously listen and address emerging issues. "Applicants are no longer required to book for appointments to collect passports," the statement read, highlighting the government's responsiveness to public concerns.
New Measures to Handle Complaints
To further enhance service delivery, the Directorate has launched a dedicated team to manage and resolve complaints efficiently. Citizens can raise their concerns through the Immigration Department's social media channels or by emailing info@immigration.go.ke. "We have a dedicated team to expeditiously address issues raised from all social media platforms," the Directorate assured, signaling a more proactive approach to public engagement.
Swift Passport Issuance Within One Week
In a related development, President William Ruto announced that Kenyans would receive their passports within one week of application. Speaking after a Sunday service in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County, President Ruto explained that this initiative aims to provide more Kenyans with opportunities to travel abroad for work. "This move is to ensure more Kenyans get an opportunity to travel abroad for work," he stated, underscoring the administration's commitment to facilitating international mobility for its citizens.
These changes mark a significant improvement in the efficiency and responsiveness of the Kenyan Immigration Services, promising a more streamlined and citizen-friendly process for passport collection.
