A challenging vetting process awaits the five nominees for key Cabinet secretary positions in Kenya, commencing Thursday morning. These appointments are part of President William Ruto's second Cabinet, and the nominees will need to persuade both the committee on appointments and the Kenyan public of their
suitability for the roles.
At the forefront is Prof. Kithure Kindiki, nominated for the Interior and National Administration portfolio. Having previously faced the same vetting panel nearly two years ago, Kindiki will be the first to undergo questioning.
After Prof. Kindiki, Dr. Debra Mlonga Barasa, the nominee for Health, will face scrutiny. The process will then proceed with Alice Wahome, nominated for Lands, and Julius Ogamba for Education. The day's vetting will culminate with Defence Cabinet Secretary nominee, Soipan Tuya.
This vetting exercise is anticipated to be a significant challenge for the nominees, requiring them to showcase their qualifications and vision for their respective ministries amidst heightened public and political expectations.
