Lamine Yamal Makes History as Spain Defeats France 2-1 in Munich, Secures Spot in Euro 2024 Final

In a thrilling semi-final clash in Munich, Spain triumphed over France with a 2-1 victory, booking their place in the Euro 2024 final. The match was marked by a historic moment as Lamine Yamal became the youngest goalscorer in men's European Championship history.

France, who had struggled to score from open play throughout the tournament, took the lead early. Kolo Muani converted a cross from Kylian Mbappe in just the ninth minute, breaking their 480-minute drought. However, Spain quickly responded with Yamal's audacious strike, curling the ball in off the far post after a skillful maneuver past Adrien Rabiot.

Spain's momentum continued as Dani Olmo found the back of the net just four minutes later, his shot deflecting off Jules Kounde. Despite France's efforts, including a blocked shot from Mbappe and a save from Mike Maignan to deny Nico Williams, Spain remained the more threatening side throughout the first half.

The second half saw France pushing for an equalizer. Mbappe had a shot saved from a tight angle, and Didier Deschamps made an attacking triple substitution after the hour mark. However, Spain's defense held firm, and Yamal nearly added a second goal for Spain. Mbappe missed a late chance, and Antoine Griezmann's header in the final moments went over the bar, sealing France's fate.

Spain's victory not only secured their spot in the final in Berlin but also extended their impressive record, having won their last eight matches and three of the four Euro finals they have competed in. The win also handed France their first defeat in 13 competitive matches since the World Cup final, showcasing Spain's dominance and setting the stage for an exciting final showdown.
