Mohamed Salah played a pivotal role in Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Manchester United, ending a run of three consecutive draws between the fierce rivals. The Egyptian star had a hand in all three goals, helping Liverpool maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season while leaving United with back-to-back defeats.
Liverpool's early pressure almost paid off when Trent Alexander-Arnold thought he had scored, but the goal was disallowed due to Salah being offside in the build-up. The match was intense from the start, with both teams eager to dominate in this crucial fixture.
Liverpool eventually broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when Casemiro's misplaced pass was intercepted. Ryan Gravenberch set up Salah, who delivered a precise cross for Luis Díaz to head home. Just seven minutes later, Díaz and Salah combined again, with Díaz finishing expertly after a brilliant assist from Salah.
United made changes at halftime, including the debut of Toby Collyer, but their struggles continued. Alexis Mac Allister outmuscled Kobbie Mainoo to launch a counter-attack, leading to a composed finish from Salah, who extended his scoring streak at Old Trafford to seven matches.
Despite some late efforts from Joshua Zirkzee, United couldn't break through, leaving boos echoing around Old Trafford as Liverpool secured their third clean sheet in as many games this season. The result increases pressure on United manager Erik ten Hag ahead of the international break.
