Moses Kuria Criticizes Rigathi Gachagua’s Push for Mt. Kenya Unity

In a bold and candid critique, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has publicly opposed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's efforts to promote unity in the Mt. Kenya region. The outspoken CS did not mince words, accusing Gachagua of fostering division rather than cohesion.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Tuesday, Kuria described the deputy president as a "divisive figure" within the Kenya Kwanza government. He cautioned that Gachagua's push for regional unity might ultimately isolate the Mt. Kenya region from the rest of Kenya.

"Rigathi Gachagua is a divisive figure. He will lead them to their isolation even for my people, the Kikuyu. But most importantly, he's wasting the space we need to focus on nation-building," Kuria stated emphatically.

This criticism comes amid a backdrop of ongoing tension within the political landscape, where Gachagua has faced continuous scrutiny from President William Ruto's associates. The deputy president's campaign for unity in the populous Mt. Kenya region has not been universally welcomed, with opponents like Kuria arguing that it detracts from broader national priorities.

Kuria's remarks highlight a significant rift within the Kenya Kwanza administration regarding the approach to regional and national unity. His warning about potential isolation underscores the complexities of managing diverse political interests in a multi-ethnic nation like Kenya.

As the debate over Mt. Kenya's political direction intensifies, it remains to be seen how Gachagua and his supporters will respond to Kuria's pointed criticism. What is clear, however, is that the quest for unity in Mt. Kenya is far from straightforward and continues to stir significant political controversy.
