The Nairobi Hospital Admitting Staff Association has announced a strike set to commence, demanding the resignation of the hospital's board of directors. The Kenya Hospital Association has pledged support to the hospital's doctors, citing ongoing issues within the facility's management. The strike will halt all new admissions, with medical attention restricted to current inpatients, private clinics, and emergencies.
The public is urged to support the doctors as an Extraordinary General Meeting is scheduled for September 18, 2024, to address the crisis. The hospital has faced allegations of corruption, cronyism, and poor governance, which it denies, labeling the claims as a smear campaign by those frustrated with its governance. The board has challenged accusers to provide evidence for the allegations.
