National Assembly Extends Public Participation for Rigathi Gachagua Impeachment Motion due to Disruptions

The National Assembly has extended the period for public participation in Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's impeachment motion by one day, following disruptions at several centers across the country on Friday. The extension allows for continued participation on Saturday, October 5, in all 290 constituencies and 47 counties.

In a notice issued by the Clerk of the National Assembly, delegates were directed to submit their views at the Representative Offices of Members of the National Assembly, which will remain open from 8 am to 5 pm. This extension aims to ensure the public's voice is heard after scuffles in some centers, including the Bomas of Kenya, where the participation was temporarily halted due to clashes.

Activist Morara Kebaso, who was present at Bomas, was targeted by rowdy attendees, leading to the disruption. Despite the chaos, the public participation process is expected to continue smoothly on the extended date.
