President Ruto Nominates Beatrice Askul Moe Cabinet Secretary for East African Community Affairs.

President William Ruto has nominated Beatrice Askul Moe for the role of Cabinet Secretary for East African Community Affairs (EAC) & Regional Development. This announcement was made in a communiqué to the Cabinet on Tuesday, authored by Chief of Staff Felix Koskei. Moe's extensive background as a social scientist and consultant makes her an ideal candidate for this position, according to the communiqué.

Before her nomination, Moe served as the County Executive Committee Member overseeing Water, Irrigation, Agriculture, and Land Reclamation in Turkana County Government. Koskei highlighted Moe's expertise and her diverse training background, which includes a County Induction Course at Kenya School Government and a Corporate Governance Course while she was a member of the Rift Valley Water Services Board.


"The CS Nominee has specialized skills in the development and management of community affairs, aimed at behavioral and social change in communities," Koskei stated. "She has undertaken various certifications and trainings, including Training on Audit Committees by KCA University, Training of Trainers (TOT) Course for Community-based Development by AMREF Kenya, and Training in Methodologies for Conducting Baseline Assessment Survey for Food Security and Nutrition Improvement Project in Turkana."


Moe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences (Social Work) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Governance and Ethics. Her academic and professional qualifications, combined with her practical experience, position her well for the challenges and opportunities that come with the Cabinet Secretary role.


As Moe steps into this new chapter, her nomination is seen as a strategic move to enhance the EAC and Regional Development sector, leveraging her vast experience and specialized skills to foster regional cooperation and development.
