Raila Odinga has endorsed the "one man, one shilling, one vote" initiative advocated by the Limuru III convenors, asserting that it will promote resource equity across Kenya. Addressing journalists on Thursday after meeting with the organizers of the Limuru III meeting, led by Jeremiah Kioni, Mr. Odinga affirmed his support for the model, emphasizing that its core principles have been widely misunderstood.
"One of the points discussed extensively during the deliberations in Limuru is the issue of resource sharing. Somehow this thing has been misrepresented as if it is discriminating parts of our country," said Odinga.
The "one man, one shilling, one vote" initiative aims to ensure equitable distribution of resources based on population density, rather than the current system that critics argue favors less populated regions. Odinga believes this model is essential for fostering fairness and addressing longstanding disparities in resource allocation.

Mr. Odinga's endorsement is critical as the nation debates the most effective methods for ensuring all regions receive their fair share of government resources. The initiative has sparked significant discussion, with supporters advocating for its potential to balance economic opportunities, while opponents fear it may marginalize less populated areas.
In his remarks, Odinga underscored the need for clear communication to dispel misconceptions about the initiative. He highlighted the importance of understanding the true intent behind the model, which seeks to rectify imbalances and promote national unity through fair resource distribution.
The Limuru III meeting has been a focal point for discussions on various national issues, bringing together leaders and stakeholders from diverse sectors. Jeremiah Kioni, leading the convenors, expressed gratitude for Odinga's support, noting that it adds significant weight to their efforts in pushing the initiative forward.
As Kenya moves towards potential reforms in resource allocation, the endorsement by a prominent figure like Raila Odinga signals a crucial step in the ongoing dialogue about fairness and equity in governance.
