Ann Nderitu, Registrar of Political Parties, has unveiled the allocations for the Financial Year 2023/2024, showcasing adjustments to the Political Parties Fund following the second revision of the Supplementary Estimates. Leading the disbursements is the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) with a substantial allocation of slightly over Ksh.316 million.
In a gazette notice released on Friday, Nderitu highlighted the revised allocations which reflect a dynamic approach to funding political entities. The UDA's allocation, increased from Ksh.237 million in the initial revision, underscores its prominence in the political landscape.
The opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has seen its funding rise to Ksh.168 million from Ksh.127 million earlier in the year, indicating continued support for diverse political representation. Similarly, the Jubilee party's allocation has grown to Ksh.74 million, up from Ksh.55 million, while the Wiper Democratic Movement now receives Ksh.39 million, an increase from Ksh.29 million previously allocated.
Notably, the Kenya African National Union (KANU) has been allocated Ksh.13 million, reflecting an enhancement from the initial Ksh.9 million allocation.
These adjustments aim to ensure equitable support for political parties as they prepare for active participation in shaping Kenya's democratic landscape throughout the upcoming fiscal year.
