Senior Police Leaders Convene for High-Stakes Security Meeting Ahead of Gen-Zs Demonstration

Senior officers from the National Police Service are currently engaged in a crucial security meeting at the Administration Police Training College in Embakasi. The high-level gathering, led by Acting Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli, brings together regional commanders from across the nation to address pressing security concerns.

This strategic meeting comes in anticipation of the widely anticipated Nane Nane demonstrations scheduled for Thursday, August 8. Acting IG Masengeli emphasized the police service's commitment to enhancing public safety and ensuring the security of all Kenyans amidst these upcoming protests.

In addition to Masengeli, the meeting includes key figures such as DCI boss Amin Mohamed and DIG Eliud Langat, among other formation commanders. This marks the first major meeting convened by Masengeli since he assumed the role of acting Inspector General following Japhet Koome's resignation in July.

The upcoming week will also see Parliament vetting Douglas Kanja for the permanent IG position. If approved, Kanja will take over the role permanently, succeeding Koome.

The outcome of these discussions and the upcoming vetting process will be pivotal in shaping Kenya's security landscape in the weeks ahead.
