Residents of Kahawa West, Nairobi, were thrown into panic after a seven-storey building collapsed on Sunday morning. The building, which housed businesses and residential units, crumbled within seconds, with videos showing people, including children, fleeing as it fell.
The Kenya Red Cross confirmed that several people are feared trapped, and a multi-agency rescue operation is underway. Preliminary reports indicate that residents had been warned about the building’s instability.
This collapse follows a similar incident in Uthiru months earlier, raising concerns over building safety enforcement in Nairobi.
