Suspected Mpox Case in Kiambu County Sparks Concern as Lab Tests Awaited

The Kiambu County government has announced a suspected case of Mpox, commonly known as Monkeypox, within the county. In a statement issued on Saturday, Kiambu Health CEC Dr. Elias Maina confirmed the reports circulating on social media but assured the public that the situation is under control.

“We are aware of reports circulating on social media regarding a suspected case of Mpox within the county. We wish to confirm that there is indeed a suspected case, which is currently under thorough laboratory investigation,” Dr. Maina stated.
He emphasized that the case is still being evaluated and that there is no cause for alarm at this stage. “We are awaiting the official lab results and will provide a comprehensive update as soon as they are available. At this stage, there is no need for alarm,” Dr. Maina reassured.
In response to the situation, the Kiambu County government has activated precautionary measures through the Department of Health Services to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents. The public is advised to remain calm and await further updates from the authorities.
