The Ministry of Health has confirmed a third case of Mpox in Kenya, with a 30-year-old woman in Nairobi testing positive for the virus. The patient, who recently traveled to Uganda, is currently in stable condition and receiving care in an isolation unit in the capital.

Dr. Patrick Amoth, the Director General for Health, made the announcement on Friday, emphasizing that the Ministry is closely monitoring the situation. "We wish to reassure the public that our healthcare facilities are fully prepared to diagnose and manage this disease, and there is no need to panic," Dr. Amoth stated. "We remain dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of all citizens and will continue implementing comprehensive response measures."
This new case raises the total number of confirmed Mpox cases in Kenya to three, following earlier detections in Taita Taveta and Busia counties. The Ministry has so far tested 89 samples, with 79 returning negative results and seven still under analysis.
In response to the rising cases, the Ministry has intensified its efforts to curb the spread of the disease. Active surveillance has been heightened, particularly at the country’s designated Ports of Entry, where over 582,000 individuals have been screened to date.
The Ministry of Health continues to urge the public to remain calm, assuring that the healthcare system is well-equipped to handle the situation.
