Uhuru Kenyatta’s Birthday Message: A Call for Peace, Unity, and National Harmony.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta marked his 63rd birthday with a powerful appeal to Kenyans for peace, unity, and national harmony. Kenyatta’s message, conveyed during a mobile interview with a local radio station, resonated with listeners as he urged citizens to come together for a stronger, united Kenya.

In his birthday message, Kenyatta stressed the importance of harmony as a pathway to both personal and national success, imploring Kenyans to look beyond divisive politics and embrace a spirit of love and understanding. "I am grateful to God for the many years he has given me, for all that he has done, and we continue to pray for peace that we may remain united as a nation,” Kenyatta said.

Reflecting on the need to foster national cohesion, he added in Swahili, “Siku hizi mimi siongei jameni, but I just want to wish peace and unity on all Kenyans. Tujue sisi wote ni binadamu, tuna mahitaji, tuwache mambo ya kuzozana, kuingililiana mbali tushikane na tupendane kama Wakenya ndipo tuweze kusonga mbele kwa pamoja.” (These days, I stay quiet, but I wish peace and unity for all Kenyans. Let’s remember we are all human, with needs, and let’s set aside quarrels to embrace each other and move forward together.)

Currently in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, for the 15th High-Level Retreat promoting peace and stability in Africa, Kenyatta shared that he would spend this birthday far from family, a change from his usual tradition. “I celebrate the day with family, children, grandchildren, and friends. But for this one, I have traveled and am still attending meetings that brought me here, but I know after the event ends, we may go somewhere with friends,” he noted.

As a special birthday dedication, Kenyatta requested UB40’s "I Got You Baby” to be played in honor of his wife, Margaret. In a lighthearted exchange with the radio host, he also mentioned his favorite food, Nyama Choma, Kenya’s beloved roasted meat dish, noting with a chuckle that he must indulge less often due to his age.

Kenyatta’s reappearance in the public eye follows months of speculation about his health, yet his voice and message rang clear: he is well and continues to advocate for peace, unity, and prosperity for all Kenyans.
