In response to fire at Hillside Endarasha School that claimed the lives of 21 pupils, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has mandated immediate inspections of all school infrastructure across the country. This decisive action aims to ensure that schools comply with rigorous safety regulations to prevent future tragedies.
Koskei has directed the Ministry of Education’s Quality Assurance officers to conduct thorough inspections of both classroom and dormitory facilities. “We cannot afford to lose lives due to non-compliance with safety standards,” Koskei stated. “It is imperative that parents feel confident that their children are safe when they are at school.”

The directive calls for all school management and government officials involved in education to adhere strictly to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines. Koskei emphasized that only construction projects meeting the Ministry of Education’s standards and those of other relevant agencies will be approved.
