​Justice Maraga was Born in Bonyamatuta village in The year 1951 in Nyamira County. He is Married and he is a father of three.

He started schooling in the year 1961-1967 at Sironga District Education Board (DEB) primary school located at Bogichora in Nyamira county where he was awarded certificate of primary Education (CPE)

He went for his O level education At Maranda high school in Siaya county, he then joined Kisii high school for East African Adavanced certificate (A level) He joined University Of Nairobi where he studied degree in Law and he later studied Masters in the same university.

In addition Maraga holds a postgraduate diploma in law awarded from the Kenya school of Law in the year 1978.

Justice David Kenani Maraga is the 14th Chief justice of the republic of Kenya and the president of the supreme court, he is expected lead a bench of Seven judges this Friday to give a ruling on the 2017 presidential petition filed by NASA. Justice Maraga is a devoted seventh day Christian and he said he cannot compromise church to work. It will remembered recently he forced the court proceeding to start late since he was in church. Justice Maraga was appointed on 19th October 2016 by president Uhuru Kenyatta taking Over from former supreme court president and chief justice Dr Willy Mutunga.
