Paulo Fonseca Takes the Helm at AC Milan: New Era Begins

AC Milan have unveiled Portuguese manager Paulo Fonseca, 51, as their new head coach under a three-year deal, succeeding Stefano Pioli, 58, the Serie A club announced on Thursday.

Pioli departed Milan after the 19-time Italian champions secured a second-place finish last season, trailing champions Inter by 19 points, and experiencing disappointing performances in both the Champions League and domestic cup competitions.

Fonseca's most recent role was with French club Lille, and he previously led AS Roma from 2019 to 2021.

"AC Milan is pleased to announce the appointment of Paulo Fonseca as the head coach of the men's first team," the club stated.

With Fonseca at the helm, AC Milan is hopeful for a revitalized journey towards domestic and European glory.
